Doc Will: Mindal Science What’s in a name? Well, I’ve always been rather amused at how my familiar name, "Doc Will" so aptly represents what I do. When you consider the human will, the free will aspect of humanity, you must recognize it as the greatest possible commodity imaginable. All of history has been directed by will. Someone’s will made a decision, reached out, ran into someone else’s free will choice, agreed with it, disagreed with it, confronted it, overpowered it, took possession of it, assimilated it, rejected it, spewed it out, adapted to it, exalted it. Free will is the secret weapon. It is the determiner of progress and destruction, the well or ill of existence. The fact is, each individual – man, woman and child – is the arbiter of his own mental health, based on the recognition that the will decides, the will is sacrosanct, individual will is supreme. When will is usurped, oppression results. When will is harmonious and gregarious, peace prevails. My work is fascinating. The mind is such potentially treacherous territory. A human being can lie to himself until he actually believes his own lie. Humans love to hide their head in the sand, to pretend they have no involvement, no responsibility, no opinion. Humans seem to enjoy manipulating each other rather than being forthright, since forthrightness is considered "confrontational" and what seems to be a universal ploy in the animal kingdom of homo sapiens is the tactic that if we avoid confronting what is hidden, we will continue to exist in a passive statis quo without experiencing the consequences of non-action. What it actually does is encourage the creation of a subliminal reality that is often more devastating that the mere fact of confrontation, which is simply "putting your cards on the table." If your cards are exposed, however, everyone can see what you are holding. Therefore there will be a winner and a loser. No one wants to be a loser, even temporarily, so they continue to "bluff" … and the game goes on. Life continues to lack substance. Relationships continue to lack quality. We live mean and shallow lives instead of experiencing the richness possible through appropriate use of the will. This is my field. Mind games. Mindal sciences toward mental health – mental health of the individual, of the couple, of the family, of the neighborhood, of the state, of the nation, of the globe. It all begins with YOU. Let’s get on with it.
