Brad: The Future

It’s a fine line. Someone else can arrange all the details, provide the yardstick, give the dimensions, yet when it comes right down to it, the future is in YOUR hands and you can’t blame anyone else if it comes apart at the seams. Not when you have been given opportunity after opportunity to do something about it.

I’m not cynical. I’m not. But I’ve been trained as a scientist. I know how to put the mind to use for survival of the human race, for advancement, for progress and for future generations. I know that it’s going to take something more than Big Brother doing it for you in order for you to realize that if you don’t do certain things you will not get certain results. If you sit and watch television night and day for the best part of your lives, how can you be expect to be prepared to act when the time comes? You will be dull, deadened, a "couch potato" who thinks somebody else will do it. Maybe you have the attitude that if you pay them enough, they’ll be glad to do it for you. They should consider themselves lucky they have you to pay them. But this is absurd! It’s your LIFE we’re talking about. Not your creature comforts. Your LIFE! So, unless your life doesn’t mean that much to you, you need to get off your duff. I’m willing to help you, but I’m not going to do it for you. If you don’t want to do it for yourself and your loved ones, don’t expect me to do it for you.

This is a very good time in history to be considering the Future, actually. The planet is on the verge of war. Not a little skirmish, another World War! This makes the issue of the Future very contemporary, current. Not set off until tomorrow, but today. Survival issues are now in our nation, our neighborhood, in our home, in our lap. Do we know how to get along? Or do we only know how to destroy ourselves and each another?
