How much does it cost?

That depends on the size and condition of your manuscript. Everything is contingent upon the condition of the manuscript when it is actually delivered to me, i.e., how much more has been added since we made the agreement and what condition it is in.

I don’t charge by the page, I charge by the job.

How do you figure?

I calculate the job by determining, first, the number of words. This is determined by checking the work’s Properties. The formula I use, roughly, is to divide 275 (the estimated number of words on a double-spaced 8 ˝” x 11” page) into the total number of words in your manuscript. Multiply that number by $2.50, bearing in mind that the figure you have calculated will be rounded off for simplicity.

It gets rounded off HIGHER if there is extra work to be done in terms of re-writes or chapter structuring. It gets rounded off LOWER if the work and the author are easy and delightful to work with.

What can I thus expect?

My practice is to utilize the MS Word editing tool to “track changes” and those changes will be highlighted in red, thus giving you the option of keeping the editing changes or leaving it the way it was written. During the editing process, I will stay in touch with you to communicate any concerns or questions I might have.

How do we get started?

If you want me to read your manuscript only, with an eye toward a critique or an assessment, that will cost $1.00 per standard 8 x 11 double-spaced page.

If you want me to review your work with an eye to editing, send it to me as an attachment to an email. I will take a look and respond accordingly, with an estimate.

If we come to an agreement, I will receive from you one-half the agreed-upon price, as a good faith commitment.

The second/final payment will be due when the work is completed, within the timeframe we have discussed.

I look forward to sharing the creative process with you.
